Prayer is the key

"Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you." -Psalm 55:22 RSV

Prayer gives you draining power, gaining power, and prayer also give you sustaining power! Sustaining power is the power to hold on and never quit in life.

One of my favourite inspirational sayings was found scratched on the wall of a basement in Germany after World War II. A Jew in hiding had scratched the Star of David on the wall along with the following statement:

I believe in the sun even when it is not shining.

I believe in love even when I do not feel it.

I believe in God even when He is silent.

That's a power-filled faith. That kind of faith can only come to the person who knows the sustaining power of prayer. When all is darkness, this person is still basking in the warm sunlight of God's presence through prayer.

If you were trapped in a dark basement somewhere, what could you scratch on the wall? Write your own trilogy of faith:

I believe in .......... I believe in ............ I believe in ................

I sing to the Lord because He gives me sustaining power!
